Disappearing Acts traces what Nauman has called “withdrawal as an art form”—both literal and figurative incidents of removal, deflection, and concealment. Bodies are fragmented, centers are left empty, voices emanate from hidden speakers, and the artist sculpts himself in absentia, appearing only as negative space.   Terry McMillan is a New York Times bestselling author of a number of novels, including Disappearing Acts, Getting to Happy, and Waiting to studied journalism at UC Berkeley and screenwriting at Columbia before making her fiction debut with Mama, which won both the Doubleday New Voices in Fiction Award and the American Book Award. She is also a recipient of the Essence 4/5.

Disappearing Acts does mark the appearance of a pair of young acts with lots of potential: Melky Sedeck (the brother and sister of Wyclef Jean) and Spooks (whose Ming Xia is a real treasure). The romantic mood dissipates toward the end of the disc, taking a decidedly more groovy turn with tracks like Spooks ' "Flesh Not Bone" and the funk 8/   I hated this book because it was so good, so riviting, and so vivid that I couldn't put it down. Really good stories are hard to come by. Most are just rewrites of the same old thing. Not Vanishing Acts, there are no heros and no villians - just people with issues. I had hoped this book would take at least a couple of weeks to read.5/5(5).

A lot has been said on Disappearing acts, so I'm going to keep mine short and simple. Well this was the first black frictional book I read some years ago. This. Disappearing Acts is about the mystery of desire and the burdens of the past. It's about respect, what it can and can't survive. And it's about the safe and secret places that only love can find. This book will leave you thinking about what's going to happen next all the time.

It's currently am and I just finished the book. This book /5(33). The book is way better and much more interesting. Of course most movies that are based on books are nearly as good as the book.

The problem with Disappearing Acts is that it moved too fast. And there is hardly any chemistry between Sanaa Lathan and Wesley Snipes. Sanaa is great as Zora. But Wesley is hardly believable as Franklin.
